Your attendance appreciated - Fare Share's Annual General Meeting takes on new format
Thursday, May 13 will mark the 24th anniversary of the Northumberland Fare Share Food Banks’ Annual General Meeting. This year we are holding a fundraising lunch and short presentation to honour those who have supported the bank, and we invite the public to attend.
In early 2009 the number of people served reached an all-time high of approximately 1,800 people served monthly. By the end of the year the numbers escalated 29%. Today the Food Bank are recording nearly 2,500 people a month served. For an agency that was started in 1986 as a 6-month temporary solution to those less fortunate Fare Share have lead the charge in West Northumberland to fill hungry bellies.
The bank has enjoyed significant gains in funds collected, equipment acquired and a host of new volunteers in 2009 and planning for an even brighter future. To do so we are urging the community to continue food contributions while donating generously at this years Annual General Meeting and beyond.
We will also have a special presentation made by Mrs. Lynda Sellar on her experiences with Habitat for Humanity locally and abroad.
Please RSVP admin@fareshare.ca or call and leave a message at the Fare Share head office – 905-372-5308. People are encouraged to make online donations through www.fareshare.ca. The Northumberland Fare Share Food Banks van (generously donated by Fraser Ford of Cobourg) will be on site to collect food.
