Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How much time will I have to commit?

A: The average volunteer commitment is three hours a week or three hours every other week. Volunteers wishing to commit more of their time can do so.

Q. What will be expected of me as a volunteer?

A: You are expected to show up for your scheduled shifts. If you are unable to make your shift or know you will be away, it is your responsibility to find a replacement and notify the coordinator of the change. If you wish to take seasonal absences, your shift will be filled by a new volunteer, and there is no guarantee that the identical position will be available upon return.

Q: What areas will I be working in?

A: After your discussion with our Volunteer Manager, we will do our best to match your interest and skill set to the hospital services and programs. Volunteer opportunities are not limited to patient care areas - there are many different areas in which you may lend a hand. For example, if you have retail experience, the Little Treasure Shop and Petticoat Lane could be a good match for you.
