SEE YOUR WAY CLEAR – HELP SUPPORT FOOD BANK
Port Hope: Volunteers will be on hand in Port Hope at the Independent Gas Bar this Saturday, September 12 from 10am to 4pm to clean the summer grime from your windows or simply improve your overall vision.
“It’s always a fun event”, say John Drahun, Fare Share Fundraising Chair, “and another demonstration of how our community comes to aid the food banks. As demand peaks with back to school, unemployment and more children (making up 37% of the people we serve) affecting the banks, we need to answer with additional support”.
Fare Share has upped its level of food contributions from 30 to 40lbs total per week (including 4 litres of fresh milk). Demand is consistent with about 2400 accessing the bank on a monthly basis. At about $30,000 per month required to feed clients the banks depend solely on the community for filling the need. The communities of Cobourg and Port Hope have never shied away from the challenge - in fact, from the words of the Ontario Association of Food Banks, “Northumberland Fare Share Food Banks is the most engaged community in Ontario”.
Fare Share asks, let’s continue to HELP FEED OUR NEIGHBOURS.
