Rosewood Estates wants you to “Stuff the Bus” for Fare Share

Cobourg’s brand-new Rosewood Estates retirement community is asking for your help to “Stuff the Bus” with non-perishable food items for Fare Share this weekend.

On Saturday, Oct. 2, the Rosewood bus will be parked at Fisher’s Foodland in Cobourg, accepting your food bank donations throughout the day.

Rosewood Estates just opened its doors to residents weeks ago, and already this dedicated retirement community is looking for ways to become involved with and support local causes — including this food drive initiative for Fare Share.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, their timing is perfect. Fare Share is doing everything possible to bolster food stores for the long weekend, and efforts like this one make a huge difference.

“It’s so important for us to have enough food to distribute at holidays,” said George Leger, the food bank’s executive director. “We don’t want our neighbours to go without, especially when we’re all celebrating the bounty of the fall harvest. It’s wonderful that Rosewood Estates has come forward to help us out this way at such an important time.”

Anyone who wants to donate food items to Fare Share through the “Stuff the Bus” program can do so this Saturday, Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fisher’s Foodland, 990 Division St., Cobourg.

Funds can be donated through www.fareshare.ca and at the Cobourg and Port Hope branches of the Bank of Montreal. Food donations are welcome anytime at any of our other collection locations — please contact us or visit our website for more information.
