FARE SHARE FOOD BANKS’ 3rd MEMORIAL GEORGE LEGER GOLF TOURNAMENT
Cobourg – In a sea of golf tournament dates June 9th marks the 3rd running of the GOLF FOR THE FOOD BANK event. Today seems fitting to make the announcement as Fare Share’s former Executive Director, George Leger would be celebrating his 79th Birthday. The tournament, named in his honour was the least the organization could do to commemorate this generous man’s 20-year dedication to feeding the hungry. George would say… “Holy fickle fiddle of fate, let’s play golf”.
This year’s tournament promises to be the best ever with 3 hole-in-one cars to win, silent auction items including a deluxe trip for two from Toronto to Halifax with VIA Rail and more. Tee off time is right after a BBQ lunch and dinner is served at the end of the round. Details can be found online - www.fareshare.ca
George, known as “Mr. Food Bank”, would like nothing better than for us to invite you to participate and join his family as we work to raise money to fund our NEED MILK program and purchase more food. Today, through great leadership and a dedicated team of volunteers the food bank is proud to announce that has met new milestones. In just 5 short years Fare Share has
increased the amount of food it distributes by over 200%. Further, it has added fresh fruits and vegetables and occasionally meat to the menus of those less fortunate. But one of the biggest improvements is being able to add fresh milk to people’s diets - something that had been missing.
See you there.
