Easter Food Drive Community Challenge Is On

Easter's almost here and although our Christmas Food Drive was an outstanding success, we can't be complacent. We ask any and all groups (neighbourhoods, business areas, businesses, churches, sports teams, schools, service clubs) to show their stuff and see how much food and donations you and your team can raise between now and Easter.

You can win - like each Community Food Drive Challenge the winning team will enjoy dinner for 25. That's right - 25 of your closest friends, neighbours or colleagues can dine - (our dining partner to be announced soon).

The Plan:

• Community Challenge (marketing/communications materials ready now) Recruit the neighbours on your street and collect door-to-door.

• Store drives - currently Metro, Cobourg and Your Independent Grocer, Port Hope are running drives, Saturday March 23. We have 5 grocers serving Port Hope and Cobourg, if you would like to organize or help with a drive, please let your manager know (so they can tell the coordinator).

• Students - We have sent out a recruitment notice for students to serve their community and earn required volunteer hours - we are asking them to take charge and organize their own drives.

*CASH: Monetary donations are always welcome and in fact preferred as the food bank can often buy for less, purchase what we need and tax receipts will be provided (for donations greater than $10).
