Christmas Spirit Fills Toyota Venza at Vandermeer's – Cobourg
Hank Vandermeer and staff have opened their doors, to receiving food and donations for Northumberland Fare Share Food Banks. Actually it’s one door, the hatch back on a 2016 Toyota Venza which is already presenting rather full.
With the higher demand on the food bank moving into 2016 Fare Share can use all it receives much sooner than is normal. “Christmas always brings heightened awareness of the food bank”, says John Drahun, Fare Share’s Fundraising Chair, “but this year we are seeing more seniors requiring support. We sincerely hope that people in need will seek us out. Food prices are soaring and those on fixed income find it hard to cope. We are happy to receive you.”
Vandermeer Toyota has been a long-time supporter of the bank and this year’s effort underpins their commitment to a tradition of giving. Special thanks to the customer’s of Vandermeer Toyota along with a most generous and giving staff.
36% of the distribution Fare Share makes goes to children however the recent trend emerging from the 2015 Hunger report put out by Food Banks Canada demonstrates that demand by seniors will escalate through 2016 by 36%.
