It’s that time… Fare Share Food Banks’ Community Food Drive Challenge is back again in time for Easter 2012, and you could win! The needs are greater than ever in this economy so the Board of Directors has challenged us to achieve the highest donation targets ever. This year we are very proud to announce that the Carlyle Bistro has offered to host a grand prize – dinner for 25 of your closest friends at this newly relaunched restaurant.

Here’s how you can get involved. Fare Share is putting out a call to “communities” to participate in the Easter food drive. Each team captain registers with the Food Bank and receives a kit with instructions, helpful tips and promotion materials for running a successful Neighborhood Food Drive.

When we first ran the program we generated 1,300 lbs of food and over $500.

Last year, at Easter, we had 10 communities compete raising nearly 3 tons of food and nearly $4,000 in donations. Some of the communities participating included: Penryn Village, Victoria Operetta Society, WinMar, eagle.ca, Kim Rudd’s campaign office, Ravine Drive Community, Northumberland Hills Hospital Restorative Care Unit, Lauria Hyundai, and more.

Last years event was a tremendous success. Our goal this year is to grow the participant list by 50% and increase donations of both food and money by 50%.

“Having the right teams will assist Northumberland Fare Share Food Banks achieve its targets”, said Director, Duncan MacKinnon, “Please give us a hand by volunteering to help. We believe you will find this to be a rewarding experience and a lot of fun, too”.

We need your help. To register and receive your kit, please contact Don McKenzie 905-373-5156 or Duncan MacKinnon 905-885-1049
