New Vice President, Patient Services and Chief Nursing Executive welcomed at NHH

Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) has welcomed Susan Walsh to its senior management team.

Recently appointed Vice President, Patient Services and Chief Nursing Executive, Walsh is a senior healthcare leader committed to quality patient- and family-centred care and organizational excellence. With experience spanning an acute academic hospital, a national community care organization and a leading social sector agency, Walsh brings a broad and unique combination of community and hospital expertise.

“Susan comes to us from the Geneva Centre for Autism, in Toronto,” said President and CEO Linda Davis in her announcement to staff. “She served Geneva as Chief Operations Officer. Prior to this she spent six years with Saint Elizabeth as first the Regional Director, Toronto Central Site and, following that, Vice President, Operations Innovation.”

Walsh’s community sector experience was preceded by a series of progressively more responsible positions within Mount Sinai Hospital. Her last role with Sinai was as Director, Quality and Performance Measurement and prior to that she served as the hospital’s Nursing Unit Administrator responsible for a 34-bed high-risk pregnancy nursing unit.

A Registered Nurse, Walsh also holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Nursing and a Master of Business Administration from the Rotman School of Management. She has been a Surveyor with Accreditation Canada since 2008. She has also served as lecturer (Clinical Appointee) with the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Nursing.

“With a skill set and personal interests directly aligned with Northumberland Hills Hospital’s recently updated Strategic Priorities, Susan Walsh impressed our search committee with her strong credentials, her respect for teamwork and her approachable style of leadership,” said Davis. “It’s my pleasure to welcome her to NHH and our community.”

Susan has relocated from Toronto to Northumberland. She assumed her new role in the community October 23rd.
