Wayne Gladstone
ED Quality and Practice Committee
Wayne joined NHH’s Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC) in the summer of 2025. A resident of Port Hope—he relocated to the community from the Durham Region in 2020—he brings a unique combination of both professional and personal experience in Ontario’s healthcare sector and hospital environments.
After retiring from his role as Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration with the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS), Wayne served as a Director on various health boards including Lakeridge Health and HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan), the primary pension plan for the province’s healthcare community. He also served as Chair of the Board of the Local Health Integration Network (now Ontario Health East) where he played a governance role in regional health planning.
Having spent considerable time at Board tables, he was interested in a new volunteer opportunity that would bring him closer to direct engagement with care providers and practitioners at a local level. When a friend of his wife raised the idea of an opportunity supporting his local PFAC, he responded to NHH’s call for interest and found it to be the perfect fit.
Now the PFAC representative on the Quality and Practice Committee for NHH’s Emergency Department, Wayne has an opportunity to combine lived experience as a recipient of care and a caregiver with his prior professional and volunteer expertise.
“I welcome the opportunity to share my experience to help NHH review and improve patient experience. I’m happy to help wherever I can.”
