NHH flag to fly at half-mast on April 28th in recognition of National Day of Mourning, Moment of Silence Observed
The Canadian flag in front of Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) will once again fly at half-mast on Wednesday, April 28th, in recognition of the annual National Day of Mourning.
Established by the Canadian Labour Congress in 1984, this day honours those injured, killed or made ill due to a workplace-related accident or hazard as well as the many families, friends and colleagues also affected by these tragedies.
“As care providers and employees, we pause on this day every year to consider the serious impact of workplace incidents and the responsibility we all have to ensure that every possible safety precaution is in place to minimize risk from workplace hazards,” said Elizabeth Vosburgh, NHH’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Services and Chief Human Resources Officer. “Our team is firmly committed to ensuring the highest possible standards for employee health, safety and wellbeing. The continued presence of COVID-19 in our country and community makes this event all the more poignant for our team. NHH will pause at 11AM April 28 for a minute of silence honouring Canadians lost or injured in a work-related accident this past year, and all those who selflessly put their lives on the line as essential workers.”
