NHH Board of Directors shocked by attempt to jeopardize future of Hospital

The Board of Directors of Northumberland Hills Hospital today expressed its profound disappointment that the Citizens for Alternative Solutions (CAS) is engaging in tactics that clearly fail to fulfill its stated intent to work with the Board for the benefit of the community.

The Board met with representatives of the CAS earlier this week in a good-faith effort to receive their proposals for the betterment of the Hospital.

During the meeting, CAS members acknowledged they agreed with the majority of the service changes approved by the Central East Local Health Integration Network in the Hospital’s 2010/11 Budget and Service Plan.

The following day the Hospital received a formal requisition signed by 43 members of the Hospital that seeks the removal of the current Board of Directors.

The requisition was hand delivered by CAS chair Frank Farago.

“This action is anything but evidence of good faith on their part,” said John Hudson, Chair of the NHH Board of Directors.

“What it clearly illustrates is that CAS members have no intention of working with us but, in fact, are only interested in advancing their own special-interest agenda.”

“The Board firmly rejects the Citizens for Alternative Solutions approach.”
