Learn how to prevent spreading infections - and getting them - at the next PACE talk

This month’s PACE conversation will take place at Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH), 1000 DePalma Drive, Cobourg, on Wednesday, December 18th at 5:30 PM with guest speaker Dr. Daniel Ricciuto exploring a timely topic: Don’t Be a Vector! How to Prevent Spreading Infections – and Getting Them.

An Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease specialist, Dr. Ricciuto’s primary practice site is Lakeridge Health, where he is the Chief and Medical Director of Quality and Patient Experience and the Physician Lead for Infection Prevention and Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship. He is also co-Chair of the Public Health Ontario Antimicrobial Stewardship Advisory Committee.

Dr. Ricciuto consults regularly at NHH, performing weekly rounds via Ontario Telemedicine Network and working closely with NHH’s Pharmacy team to provide input on antimicrobial stewardship.

Dr. Ricciuto has participated in multiple areas of research over his career, with topics including efforts to reduce rates of hospital-acquired infections like C. difficile, novel technologies to improve hand hygiene, as well as the microbiome and biomarkers in sepsis. During his PACE conversation, Dr. Ricciuto will highlight ways we can all prevent spreading and getting infections.

The Northumberland PACE talks are free, monthly public education sessions on a broad range of health and wellness topics, and consistently draw large groups of community members with a range of questions and perspectives.

Lasting an hour in length, each PACE event consists of a 30-minute talk, a 20-minute question-and-answer period with the guest speaker and a 10-minute moderator summary. PACE talks start at 5:30 PM on the third Wednesday of each month, and rotate between Cobourg (at NHH, 1000 DePalma Drive) and Port Hope (at the Community Health Centres of Northumberland, 99 Toronto Road).

Bring your questions, your suggestions and your experience and join in what is expected to be another lively discussion.

Pre-registration is required to manage room capacity.
