Flags to fly at half-mast on April 28 in recognition of the National Day of Mourning, moment of silence to be observed
The flags will be flying at half-mast at Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) in recognition of the National Day of Mourning on Monday, April 28. A moment of silence will also be held hospital wide.
Established by the Canadian Labour Congress in 1984, the National Day of Mourning honours and remembers individuals injured, killed, or made ill as the result of a workplace-related accident or hazard, including the many families, friends, and colleagues also affected by these tragedies.
“The National Day of Mourning allows us to reflect, remember, and honour the many lives impacted and lost to work-related accidents,” said Susan Walsh, President and CEO. “It also serves as a critical call to action and reminder that health and safety in the workplace is an ongoing shared responsibility.”
“At NHH, we are always working diligently to implement the highest possible standards for mental and physical health, safety, and well-being,” said Lola Obomighie, Vice President of People, Culture and Organizational Effectiveness.
“We remain open to enhancing and evolving current practices to grow alongside the ever-changing landscape of health care.”
