Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning Returns for Fourth Year

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – Northumberland County residents will once again have the opportunity to raise their coffee mugs in support of the Northumberland Hills Hospital.

On Tuesday, June 15, 2010, Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning – a county-wide fund-raiser – will have hundreds of people getting together with friends, family, and colleagues, to enjoy a cup of coffee and make a donation towards the purchase of medical equipment for the Emergency Department at the Northumberland Hills Hospital.
Organizers are pleased to announce this year’s event is being held in honour of Jim Boughen and Alf Blything. Jim and Alf were dedicated community members who gave of their time, energy, and enthusiasm to many events and organizations in the area. Sadly, both men passed away last year. Organizers of Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning have spoken to Jim and Alf’s widows and they are very supportive and pleased that this year’s coffee morning event will be in their husbands’ honour.
“Hosting a coffee morning is fun and easy,” said Jennifer Stadtke, Hospital Foundation Board Member
and Coffee Morning event spokesperson. “Simply invite some guests into your home, business, church, school, community centre, or any other place of your choosing. Serve some coffee and maybe a few sweets, and in return guests are invited to make a donation to support equipment purchases for the Emergency Department of the hospital.”

The Provincial Government provides limited funding for equipment purchases. Therefore, participation in Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning helps to ensure that our doctors, nurses and staff will have access to up-to-date medical equipment to continue to provide the highest quality health care services possible. Since it began in 2007, Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning has raised $180,000 for the hospital.

Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning is sponsored by Sabic Innovative Plastics, Cobourg Internet and Alison Sprayson of Bright Ideas Design.
