Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning Returns for Fifth Year

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – Gather your friends, co-workers, neighbours or family together on Wednesday, June 8th and raised your coffee mugs during Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning to raise funds for the Northumberland Hills Hospital.

This year’s Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning will be held in memory of Bernice and Angus Read. The Reads believed strongly in helping others and their community. Together they touched the lives of many people through their involvement with countless community organizations. Sadly, both Bernice and Angus passed away last fall within weeks of each other. Organizers of Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning have spoken to Bernice and Angus’s family and they are very supportive and pleased that this year’s coffee morning event will be in their honour.

“Hosting a coffee morning is fun and easy,” said Jennifer Butler Coffee Morning event spokesperson. “Simply invite some guests into your home, business, church, school, community centre, or any other place of your choosing. Serve some coffee and maybe a few sweets, and in return guests are invited to make a donation to support the purchase of two Lifepak 20 defibrillators for the Surgical and Ambulatory Care programs at the hospital. These items are a priority for the hospital and we’re going to do our best to raise the $40,000 required to make this possible.”

The Provincial Government provides limited funding for equipment purchases. Therefore, participation in Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning helps to ensure that our doctors, nurses and staff will have access to up-to-date medical equipment to continue to provide the highest quality health care services possible. Since it began in 2007, Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning has raised $221,000 for the hospital.

Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning is sponsored by Sabic Innovative Plastics, Cobourg Internet and Alison Sprayson of Bright Ideas Design.
