Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning Continues to Percolate

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – There is still time to register your coffee party or event for Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning. The fifth annual event will take place on Wednesday, June 8th in private homes, businesses, church halls, coffee shops and restaurants as people come together to enjoy fellowship while raising funds for the Northumberland Hills Hospital.

This year’s Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning will be held in memory of Bernice and Angus Read. The Reads believed strongly in helping others and their community. Together they touched the lives of many people through their involvement with countless community organizations. Sadly, both Bernice and Angus passed away last fall within weeks of each other.

The organizing committee is pleased to report that to date 43 “coffee mornings” have registered for Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning to help raise funds for the purchase of two Lifepak 20 defibrillators for the Surgical and Ambulatory Care programs at the hospital. These items are a priority for the hospital and we’re going to do our best to raise the $40,000 required to make this possible.

Hosting an event is a great excuse to meet up with friends, spend a few minutes with colleagues, family members or neighbours, in a place of your choosing, and invite them to make a donation towards the hospital.
There are several scheduled “coffee mornings” open to the public, including, Lakefront Utilities, RBC Dominion Securities at Harden & Huyse Chocolates, Meet at 66 King, the Ruth Clarke Activity Centre and Trattoria Gusto in Port Hope. Northumberland MP Rick Norlock and MPP Lou Rinaldi are also hosting “coffee mornings” at their offices. For a complete listing of the public “coffee mornings” visit the Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning website at www.nhhcoffee.ca.
Since it began in 2007, Northumberland’s Biggest Coffee Morning has raised more than $221,000 for the hospital.

You can register your coffee morning event on-line at www.nhhcoffee.ca or pick up a registration form from the Foundation office (located in the hospital, near the main entrance). For more information, call 905-372-6811, extension 3065.
