NHH Foundation Gala Raises Record Amount
For Immediate Release, November 24, 2010
NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – The co-chairs of the 10th annual Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation gala are pleased to announce that this year’s event, held November 13th at the LIUNA Local 183 Training Centre in Cobourg, raised a record amount for the purchase of essential medical equipment for the hospital.
Kim Gordon and Wendy Ito say due to the generosity of the gala guests, sponsors and donors, $165,000 was raised at the gala entitled, “All that Glitters …Looks Like a Million”.
“We have an outstanding community hospital,” says co-chair Wendy Ito, “and our success means they will be able to purchase the high priority medical equipment the gala cabinet had set its sights on, including two laparoscopes and two endoscopes for the Surgical Services Program, a stretcher for the Emergency Department and two I-V Pumps.”
“The Northumberland Hills Hospital impacts the lives of tens of thousands of people each year,” says Kim Gordon, “and the success of the gala is a reflection of the community’s commitment to supporting the finest in local healthcare.”
Special thanks to the dozen of dedicated volunteers, who helped to make this year’s event such a success, including the gala cabinet, set up volunteers and the volunteers who assisted during the gala itself. Also thank you to the two dozen local doctors who supported the new “Looks Like a Million” Raffle. With their leadership the raffle raised almost $30,000 for the hospital.
This success of this year’s event means the gala has raised over $1 Million in its ten year history.
