Event of the Year” a success.
For Immediate Release, November 20, 2012
NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – The co-chairs of the 12th annual Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation gala are pleased to announce that this year’s event held November 3rd at the Cobourg Community Centre was a tremendous success.
At the beginning of gala planning, Louise Stevenson, Will Ryan and the gala cabinet had a huge year ahead of them. “We made the decision to introduce significant change”, said co-chair Louise Stevenson, “to come out of our comfort zone and to try and elevate the guest experience - a new venue, new caterers and many new cabinet volunteers. By all accounts, we think we met our mark.”
Louise Stevenson and Will Ryan say due to the generosity of the gala guests, sponsors and donors, $136,000 was raised at the gala entitled, “Gala Nº12~The Chanel Inspired Event of the Year”.
“This County is blessed with creative and talented people. We couldn’t pull this gala off without the help of our local community. This year, we kept everything local, including our caterers, daizies, our band, Bruce Longman & The Starlite Dance Band were all local, the flowers were provided by Holton Flowers in Port Hope and Quinn’s in Cobourg, the artists that were featured were all local.” says Stevenson. “It truly is a community event.”
“We have an outstanding community hospital,” says co-chair Will Ryan, “and the gala’s financial success means the advanced medical equipment will be available for the patients of Northumberland County. This year the gala funds will be directed to purchasing two total care beds, a lifepak 12, a glidescope, and an invasive blood pressure module…all items for our Intensive Care Unit which provides care to some of the community’s sickest patients.”
“The Northumberland Hills Hospital impacts the lives of tens of thousands of people each year,” says Ryan, “and the success of the gala is a reflection of the community’s commitment to supporting the finest in local healthcare.”
Special thanks to the dozens of dedicated volunteers, who helped to make this year’s event such a success, including the gala cabinet, set up volunteers and the volunteers who assisted during the gala itself. Also thank you to the local doctors who supported the “Gala N°12 Doctors Raffle”. With their leadership the raffle raised over $21,000 for the hospital.
The community is invited to check out photos from the event that can be viewed at the gala web site, www.nhhgala.ca .
