19th Annual Light up a Life Campaign Enjoys Early Success
For Immediate Release, November 27, 2012
NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY – It was only last week that the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation released 5,000 letters to community members encouraging support of the 19th Annual Light up a Life Campaign. Days later, the campaign received a significant boost with a generous donation of $16,000 from local businessman Ken Goodwin and Fisher’s Foodland.
Rhonda Cunningham, Executive Director of the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation, says “Mr. Goodwin contacted our office to ask how much the ECG machine featured on the “wish list” would cost? When I told him it was $16,000, he said that he would like to make a donation in this amount to purchase the ECG machine outright.”
Mr. Goodwin and Fisher’s Foodland have a long history of generous financial support to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation. This is yet another example of how generously the residents of west Northumberland support their local hospital.
The Light up a Life letter was mailed to Foundation supporters, and Campaign Chair Dr. Jay Amin provided an explanation of how important medical equipment is to the patients of Northumberland. Funds raised through this year’s campaign will help NHH invest in priority medical equipment for a variety of hospital programs, including:
• An ECG machine to determine heart rate and rhythm – Purchased!
• Microscopes for Laboratory tests
• 2 gastroscopes for the Surgical Services Program
To date, the campaign has raised approximately $31,000 towards its goal of $130,000.
Those interested in learning more about the Light up a Life Campaign, in reading Dr. Amin’s letter or making a donation, are invited to visit the Foundation website, at www.nhh.ca.
