LOCATION
Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Acute services include emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, obstetrical care and palliative care. Post-acute specialty services (PASS) include restorative care and rehabilitation. Mental health care, cancer and supportive care, dialysis and other ambulatory care clinics are offered on an outpatient basis through partnerships with regional centres and nearby specialists. NHH offers a full range of diagnostic services, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and mammography. The hospital serves the catchment area of west Northumberland County. A mixed urban and rural population of approximately 67,000 residents, west Northumberland comprises the Town of Cobourg, the Municipality of Port Hope, Alderville First Nation and the townships of Hamilton, Cramahe and Alnwick/Haldimand. ROLE OVERVIEW
The Human Resource Advisor is an integral part of the Human Resources team and provides expert level advice to employees and managers. They are responsible for delivering the core human resource services including providing consultation and advice to assigned departments on a variety of HR matters including employee and labour relations, collective agreement interpretation, recruitment and retention, onboarding, discipline and conflict resolution, performance management, HR policies, practices and legislation, etc. This role is Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm. The Human Resources Advisor position is a full-time, in person role.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- A degree/diploma in Business Administration with a specialization in Human Resources Management required
- Current member of the Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario, and in good standing
- CHRP/CHRL designation required
- Minimum five (5) years experience in a progressive unionized human resources environment
- Demonstrated judgment, decision making and problem solving
- Knowledge of HRIS, payroll and scheduling systems
- Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- Results focused/self-starter – driven to achieve
- Demonstrated tact and sound professional judgment when dealing with sensitive and confidential matters
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment
- Detail oriented – excellent attention to detail with the ability to follow through on assigned tasks
- Interpersonal skills – able to collaborate on projects, maintain effective relationships, and communicate clearly at all levels of the business
- Proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard
ASSETS
- Experience in the Health Care sector preferred
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Successful applicants are required provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.
Additionally, to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
