LOCATION

Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH is a vibrant community hospital delivering a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Directly serving a growing population of more than 60,000 residents spread across a mix of urban and rural settings, NHH directly employs approximately 750 people and relies on the additional support provided by a highly engaged and supportive network of physicians, midwives and volunteers.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Manager, Performance & Analytics, the Case Costing Analyst is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and delivery of hospital case costing data to assist decision-making, improving, and achieving strategic and organizational goals.

The Case Costing Analyst is responsible for leading all aspects of case costing within the organization, including the routine loading of data, execution of data quality reports and corrections, ensuring data is aligned with Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS) and Ontario Case Costing (OCC) standards, documentation, analysis and interpretation of data and education and training on Case Costing to staff, while working collaboratively with key partners across the organization to ensure data quality and integrity between financial, statistical and clinical data.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate of a recognized post-secondary education program, preferably in Business Administration, Health Services, or equivalent.
  • Minimum two (2) years related work experience in a financial and/or statistical analysis role; healthcare setting preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Ontario Case Costing (OCC), Management Information Systems (MIS) Standards and Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS) are required.
  • Strong computer skills including MS office. Advanced proficiency in SQL, Crystal Reports, and PowerBI an asset.
  • Experience with CIHI grouping methodologies (CMG’s, HIGs), weighted cases and knowledge of clinical datasets (DAD, NACRS).
  • Knowledge and understanding of workload measurement concepts preferred.
  • Experience with Epic reporting tools (Clarity, Cogito, Caboodle) preferred. Active certification or ability to achieve certification on these modules may be required (must be eligible to travel to the United States, if applicable).
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail and adherence to policy and protocol are required to ensure that standards are met.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple health and social system partners within all levels of an organization, employing a strong organizational and customer focus.
  • Demonstrated ability for independent action, initiative, problem-solving, organization & prioritization.
  • Ability to respond to many simultaneous/competing demands from multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexible approach to work, resilience, and ability to exemplify the values of NHH.
  • Requirement to work Monday to Friday in a very busy office environment with many interruptions.
  • Requirement to simultaneously manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines.
  • The possibility of being required to work beyond standard hours (may include weekends).

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Successful applicants are required provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.

Additionally, to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
