LOCATION
Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH is a vibrant community hospital delivering a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Directly serving a growing population of more than 60,000 residents spread across a mix of urban and rural settings, NHH directly employs approximately 750 people and relies on the additional support provided by a highly engaged and supportive network of physicians, midwives, and volunteers.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the OHT-N Executive Lead the Project Lead will work proactively to advance and promote projects to improve delivery and/or experience of health care services and provide project leadership expertise and support to various councils, committees and working groups.
This individual will be responsible for working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team setting to develop implementation and change management plans, project agreements, workflow processes and maps, team engagement, training and awareness strategies, project management and reporting strategies, and other required documentation to support implementation.
Responibilities and duties may include:
- Conducts project management activities, develops plans for project implementation, identifies and manages risks.
- Develops project management resources and tools to initiate, plan, execute, and monitor projects.
- Develop detailed project plans that identify and address the activities, timelines, linkages, risks, communications, and financial/staff resources required to support the successful implementation of the key deliverables.
- Develop and implement strategies and project plans in alignment with OHT-N strategic vision.
- Completes strategic planning and coordination of improvement initiatives through assessment of data analytics, feasibility evaluations, team partnerships, as well as budget and resource preparation.
- Oversee the development of key performance indicators associated with the project and build and implement corresponding reporting strategies.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of the needs of each team, workflow procedures, policies, and standards.
- Develop processes and tools to support partners’ implementation of change initiatives including process/solution documentation (i.e. workflows, use cases, user guides, transition plans and training materials).
- Serve on project committees and governance structures as appropriate to lead and assist with the implementation of aligned initiatives.
- Participate in and facilitate meetings, workshops, and presentations related to requirements gathering, scope definition, and scope delivery.
- Communicates insights, findings and trends to leadership and the team through in-person and virtual engagements to ensure key partners have the most accurate, useful, and timely information.
- Liaise on a regular basis with key partners including the OHT-N Executive Lead, representatives from other OHT’s and representatives from Ontario Health to support information sharing, awareness, and key learnings from project implementation.
- Develops and shares change management proposals based on insights, and findings.
- Develops and implements project communication plans in collaboration with the OHT-N team and leadership.
- Develop and deliver clear and continuous communication amongst project partners through memos, briefs and virtual and in-person engagements

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Public Administration, Health Studies or other related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience in healthcare project management, strategic planning, development, and implementation of health-related services within the health care sector.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, preferred.
- Experience leading and supporting medium to large health care projects/programs in collaboration with multiple partners.
- Ability to work collaboratively with inter-organizational project teams and partners.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness of specific needs related to underserved and priority populations.
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written), including presenting, consulting, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to promote team development, collaboration, support, respect, and inclusion.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates ability to work independently and be self-directed.
- Demonstrates a professional and respectful attitude to patients, public, volunteers and colleagues and fosters good public relations and effective working relationships.
- Proven leadership skills including strong quality and change management, proven program planning, development, evaluation, and utilization experience.
- Ability to apply project management knowledge and expertise (project planning, implementation, evaluation, risk assessment, benefits realization).
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Knowledge of healthcare software.
- Knowledge of data collection and qualitative and quantitative analysis methods.
- Knowledge of quality improvement processes and evaluation tools is an asset.
- Understanding of the Ontario health care system, its partners, and programs.
- Understanding of, and commitment to, foundational OHT concepts including: the quintuple aim, excellence in patient/client/caregiver centered care, collaboration, and collaborative decision making.
- Demonstrated compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Infection Prevention and Control practices.
ASSETS
- Master’s degree in health system planning, public administration, public health, or business.
- Other certification (Lean/Six Sigma, ITIL, Change Management).
- Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project.
- Experience in digital health initiatives (online appoint booking, EMR implementation, virtual health applications).
- Basic understanding of enterprise resource planning concepts and processes.
- French language proficiency.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
At this time, primarily a work from home role with occasional travel within Northumberland County boundaries.
Successful applicants are required provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.
Additionally, to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
