LOCATION

Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH is a vibrant community hospital delivering a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Directly serving a growing population of more than 60,000 residents spread across a mix of urban and rural settings, NHH directly employs approximately 750 people and relies on the additional support provided by a highly engaged and supportive network of physicians, midwives and volunteers.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Staffing Clerk is responsible for supporting various department Managers within a variety of areas associated with scheduling, staffing levels and collective agreement interpretation.

This could include but is not limited to tasks such as

  • Reviewing and processing vacation requests
  • Receiving and filling sick calls, leaves etc.
  • Monitoring and assuring daily staffing levels
  • Responding to general scheduling and payroll inquiries (OPSEU, ONA and CUPE unions)
  • Updating imperative data in to scheduling programming
  • May be requested to participate in labour relations activities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have previous Office Administration experience
  • Excellent word processing, database, and general computing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and time management skills
  • Must be able to deal with conflict in a calm and efficient manner
  • Adaptable to fast paced environment and stressful situations
  • Previous experience in a hospital environment and/or staff scheduling role is an asset
  • Preference will be given for completion of Human Resources/Business Administration diploma or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience consulting and interpreting union collective agreements is an asset
  • Hours of work for the position will vary, however average hours are approximately 30 hours bi-weekly
  • Candidates must be able to work between the hours 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including being available 2 out of 4 weekends

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Successful applicants are required to provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.

Additionally to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
