Qualifications Required

POSITION: TEMPORARY PART-TIME HEALTH RECORDS TECHNICIAN

DEPARTMENT: CLINICAL INFORMATION SERVICES

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Health Record Technician is responsible for:

- Coding and abstracting NACRS and DAD using ICD-10-CA/CCI classification.
- Performing interface functions (i.e Meditech to Winrecs)
- Month end reporting for Quality Assurance of coded data
- Submission of data to CIHI or other agencies as required.
- Participate in department Quality Assurance program, mandatory education and mandatory hospital programs.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Graduate of an approved Health Information Management Program.
• Current certification in Health Information Management (CHIMA)
• Current knowledge of ICD-10-CA/CCI coding classifications, and CIHI coding standards.
• Current knowledge of CMGs, RIWs, HIGs and QBPs an asset.
• General computer knowledge (Winrecs, Word, Excel)
• Ability to organize and prioritize work
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• 1+ years related experience in DAD coding (required)
• NACRS coding and abstracting experience (preferred)
• Follows safe and healthy work practices and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adherence to health and safety related policies and procedures.
