Decision Support Specialist (full-time)
Reporting to the Director of Quality, Safety and Decision Support, the Decision Support Specialist (DSS) will be accountable for:
- Reporting and analysis of corporate and program-level performance data and standards in order to meet the information needs of the organization
- Extracting data from a diverse set of repositories and inputting data into various external information management entities to fulfill certain external reporting requirements
- Assisting program directors/managers to analyze, evaluate, interpret and prepare high quality and timely reports for effective decision making and business improvement
- Assisting clinical areas in the development of scorecards, key performance indicators and business plans
- Assisting in transforming data into information to support evidence-based decision making through the organization
- Assisting with other duties related to quality improvement, integrated risk, and patient safety such a supporting the incident reporting tool
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Graduate of a recognized post-secondary education program, preferably in Business Administration or Health Services or equivalent
- Must be a Certified Health Information Management Professional and a member in good standing with Canadian Health Information Management Association
- 3– 5 years previous experience in a hospital setting, preferably acute, including a demonstrated understanding of healthcare related information, data analysis, report generation, information system interfaces, hospital funding, MIS guidelines, CIHI standards, quality improvement processes
- Proven knowledge of ICD-10-CA/CCI, Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), Case Mix Groupings (CMGs), National Ambulatory Coding Reporting System (NACRS), Comprehensive Ambulatory Care Classification System (CACS), National Rehabilitation Reporting System (NRS), and Resource Intensity Weight (RIW) methodologies
- Experience working with lean six sigma concepts, lean training an asset
- Experience with quality improvement initiatives
- Experience with integrated risk management an asset
- Strong collaboration skills
- Inquisitive mind
- Strong computer knowledge and skills (Meditech, EPIC, Crystal Report Writing, Excel, Med2020 (WinRecs MS office)
