SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Director, Food Services, the Diet Technician is responsible for: utilizing Computrition to adjust patient menus and nourishments to meet specific diet requirements; portioning and serving food; pick-up of dirty trays and delivery of floor food supplies; washing dishes and pots; working with cash; keeping assigned areas clean and sanitary.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Graduation from a recognized two-year program in Food and Nutrition Management
- Current or eligible for Membership with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management
- Applicants must have recent experience using Computrition, with demonstrated understanding of specialized
diets requirements
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of WHMIS, CQI and food safety
- Excellent customer service skills
- Able to work independently and as a member of a team
- Capable of learning new techniques, policies and procedures
- Applicants must be available to work as scheduled
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Above average manual dexterity and motor co-ordination; able to lift up to 25 Lbs; able to push food carts
- Ability to work with cleaning agents
- Walking and standing for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to work in a hot and humid environment
- Follows safe and healthy work practices and maintains a safe andhealthy work environment through attendance at educationalprograms, use of established reporting mechanisms for injuries, illness and hazards and adherence to health and safety relatedpolicies and procedures
