LOCATION AND ABOUT NHH

Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Acute services include emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, obstetrical care and palliative care. Post-acute specialty services (PASS) include restorative care and rehabilitation. Mental health care, cancer and supportive care, dialysis and other ambulatory care clinics are offered on an outpatient basis through partnerships with regional centres and nearby specialists. NHH offers a full range of diagnostic services, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and mammography. The hospital serves the catchment area of west Northumberland County. A mixed urban and rural population of approximately 67,000 residents, west Northumberland comprises the Town of Cobourg, the Municipality of Port Hope, Alderville First Nation and the townships of Hamilton, Cramahe and Alnwick/Haldimand. ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Manager, Supply Chain and Corporate Projects, the Supply Chain Supervisor and Performance Lead, is responsible for direct supervision of the Materials Management (Supply Chain) Department and supporting Supply Chain Optimization from a procurement lens. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Materials Management (Supply Chain) and supporting the strategic direction of Supply Chain optimization throughout the organization. These functions are performed in accordance with the strategic plan, philosophy, and values of NHH and include analysis and implementation of regional integration strategies among other hospitals, health care agencies and potential partners in the public or private sectors along with following legislation including specific regulations related to the role.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum two-year college education with minimum SCMP Supply Chain Canada or comparable experience in a purchasing/inventory control environment at a supervisory level
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and quality improvement processes/applications required
  • Current knowledge of hospital shipping, receiving, purchasing, and inventory control processes in a computerized environment
  • Knowledge of medical supplies, equipment and terminology
  • Minimum 2 years related experience in purchasing, and warehousing operations
  • Expectation that further educational requirements will be completed as required

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and ability to effective and efficiently use all MS Office products
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to deescalate conflict and promote a healthy and collaborative work environment
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize workload while functioning independently.
  • Must have above average public relations skills combined with the ability to relate well under pressure in a positive, courteous, cooperative manner.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the aspects of the Materials Management Function (i.e. Principles of Buying and Inventory Control).
  • Demonstrated analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven judgment and observation skills with accuracy and attention to detail essential
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and co-operatively with all levels of staff, patients and the public

 

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Requirement to work Monday to Friday in a busy office environment with many interruptions.
  • Requirement to simultaneously manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines.

 

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Successful applicants are required provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.

Additionally, to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
