Cyndi Gilmer
Cyndi Gilmer is currently an Associate Professor and Compressed Coordinator for the Trent/Fleming School of Nursing, where she has taught since 2007.
Cyndi has practiced nursing in a broad range of areas since 1982, including Public Health, bedside nursing in labor and delivery, maternal childcare, outpatient women’s health, and paediatrics.
Prior to her teaching career, she worked in hospital administration as a Manager, Director, and Interim VP, overseeing several acute care areas for over 15 years. She also served as the Director of Social Work at Trent University for four years and through her career, has gained a thorough knowledge of the challenges faced by communities.
She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western University, as well as both a Master of Health Science Nursing, and a Doctor of Health Science from Charles Sturt University.
A long-time resident of Port Hope, Cyndi also cares deeply about her community and is actively involved in giving back through her volunteer roles with Northumberland Hills Hospital and Green Wood Coalition.
She previously served on the Board of Directors for Five Counties Children’s Centre for 20 years. Cyndi appreciates living in a vibrant community with her husband, as well as her immediate and extended family.
Cyndi assumed the role of Board Chair at the June 2024 Annual Meeting. She previously served as Vice Chair of the Board and Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committees.
