Northumberland Hills Hospital flag at half-mast for RN Kevin Higney
It is with great sadness that Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) is flying its Canadian flag at half-mast in honour of a respected colleague and friend, Kevin Higney, Registered Nurse (RN). Kevin passed away on the evening of Saturday, August 15th, following a tragic accident.
A husband and devoted father of three, Kevin was a long-time critical care RN at Lakeridge Health and, since November 2017, a part-time critical care RN with NHH’s Emergency Department and Intensive Care teams as well. He is described by NHH colleagues as “a wonderful nurse,” and “extremely caring and compassionate.”
In a message to staff earlier today, NHH’s Vice President of Patient Services, Chief Nursing Executive and Chief Clinical Information Officer Susan Walsh said: “Kevin embodied what we mean when we speak about patient-centred care. Many have remarked that he was particularly respected for attending not just to his patients, but to their family’s needs as well while always looking out for his teammates. He was a beloved colleague at both institutions and teams at our hospitals are feeling a great loss.”
Deepest sympathy is extended from everyone at NHH to Kevin’s wife, family and friends, and to his many colleagues at Lakeridge Health.
