NHH flag to fly at half-mast on April 28 in recognition of National Day of Mourning, moment of silence observed
The Canada flag will be flying at half-mast at Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) in recognition of the National Day of Mourning on Friday, April 28. Additionally, a moment of silence will be held hospital-wide.
Established by the Canadian Labour Congress in 1984, the National Day of Mourning honours and remembers individuals injured, killed, or made ill as the result of a workplace-related accident or hazard, including the many families, friends, and colleagues also affected by these tragedies.
“April 28 is an important day of reflection to honour and remember Canadians who were injured in or lost to worked-related accidents,” said Lola Obomighie, NHH’s Vice President of People, Culture and Organizational Effectiveness. “It also serves as a reminder of the responsibility we all share to minimize any and all risks from workplace hazards. At NHH, whilst acknowledging the continued commitment and dedication of every member of our health care teams, we continue to prioritize and implement the highest possible standards for mental and physical health, safety and wellbeing.”
