It’s a girl! First baby of the new year welcomed at NHH at 21:51 PM, January 1st
Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) welcomed its first baby of the new year at 21:51 PM on Monday, January 1st, 2018. First child for Kelsey Greenfield Smith and Dante Ough of Baltimore, Ontario, the baby—named Maiya—weighed 7 pounds and 6.8 ounces (3,370 grams).
“Thank you to the wonderful nurses who supported us through the delivery, especially Jenn Bevan, who was just fantastic,” said the happy couple. “A special thank you, too, to Dr. Asiya Hameed.”
The Brahms lullaby was heard in the NHH hallways more than 500 times in the last fiscal year. The lullaby is NHH’s traditional welcome for each baby born in the hospital’s busy Maternal/Child Care Unit. With six birthing suites, a dedicated operating room for caesarean sections and an experienced health care team, NHH provides newborns and their families with the personal and exceptional care expected of a community hospital. More than 550 births are anticipated at the local hospital in the current fiscal year, thanks to a strong and expanding partnership with local family physicians, and a growing number of obstetrician-gynecologists and midwives working at NHH.
