Incident at main front entrance this AM (August 15) – Update #1

Earlier this morning at approximately 8:48 AM, a vehicle lost control at the main front entrance to the hospital. The vehicle mounted the curb, hit the building and proceeded through the glass enclosure immediately outside the main entrance before coming to rest against the stone wall beneath the wooden overhang.

The occupants of the vehicle (two) were taken into the Emergency Department for care. No injuries were sustained by individuals inside the hospital.

“The hospital remains fully accessible and open for business with the exception of the main entrance which will remain closed pending completion of the police investigation and inspection for structural damage,” said Susan Walsh, President and CEO.

“At this time, all incoming and outgoing patients and visitors are being directed by volunteers, staff and signage to use the Dialysis entrance or the Emergency Department entrance and we are working to get temporary way-finding signage in place. We thank everyone for their patience. Sincere thanks to our first responders for their quick reaction and support.”

An update will follow later today as more details are available.
