Bonnie McKee

PFAC Chair, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Palliative Care and Diagnostic Imaging Quality and Practice Committees, Experience Measurement Working Group, Falls Quality Aim, Master Planing Steering Committee and IQPRC

A member of NHH's PFAC team since July 2022, Bonnie was initially recruited to serve on the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee (EDIAC). She quickly responded to calls for interest from other committees and working groups and today plays an active volunteer role throughout NHH, bringing the PFAC voice to two Quality and Practice Committees (Palliative Care and Diagnostic Imaging), the Experience Measurement Working Group, the DASH team--focused on tactics to minimize hospital-acquired delirium--the Quality Aims team working on fall reduction and the Integrated Quality, Practice and Risk Committee, amongst others. Since April 2023 Bonnie has served in the role of PFAC's inaugural chair. In that capacity, Bonnie has played a pivotal role in co-designing NHH's first Experience Framework.

Bonnie hails originally from Toronto but lived for 16 years in the U.S. prior to moving to Port Hope in 2020 during the pandemic. She holds degrees from Queen’s University and a Master’s of Science in Creativity and Change Leadership from Buffalo State University as well as multiple professional certifications.

Professionally, she’s spent over 25 years working with multinational companies in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. as a consumer insight and innovation catalyst developing new products and services.

Bonnie’s interest in health care – specifically, senior care – was kindled when she was an essential caregiver for her father who suffered with advanced Alzheimer’s and other physical challenges during his time as a patient in the Veteran’s hospital in London, Ontario. During that time Bonnie sat on a number of committees to improve the quality of patient experience at Veterans and across the St. Joseph Health Care campus. At NHH, Bonnie has had personal experience with the COVID-19 Clinical Assessment Centre, screenings in the women’s health unit and emergency care.

“As a member of the PFAC team I’ve been profoundly impressed by the dedication, professionalism and collaborative spirit of staff and PFAC members. Importantly, the commitment to ‘person centred care’ is not just a strategic priority, but a lived reality at NHH. I’m excited about contributing what I can to champion current, future and unanticipated challenges to  assist NHH in delivering the best patient and caregiver experience possible.” - Bonnie McKee
