&lt;p&gt;The Clinical Extern position is an exciting opportunity for nursing students. Clinical Externs work as unregulated health care providers under the supervision of regulated health care professionals and are supported by a dedicated Clinical Extern Mentor Coordinator. Through a patient and family-centered approach, they provide direct and indirect patient care and clinical unit support while simultaneously gaining knowledge, skill, and exposure to a hospital environment. Clinical Externs are valued members of the health care team and work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to achieve our organizational goal of providing &amp;ldquo;exceptional care, every time, for every person.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, the PSW provides quality patient centered care to Acute Care patients including, but not limited to, assisting patients with their personal hygiene needs, activities of daily living and mobility according to their plan of care. The PSW will support exceptional mouth care and feeding, as well as skin care for the treatment and prevention of Hospital Acquired Pressure Injuries. The NHH PSW will assist our patients living with dementia, or behaviors by implementing stimulating activities, sitting, and talking with patients, or engaging in patient interactions that match their care plan. We have several services that support our Emergency Department including on-site Intensivists, Hospitalists, Obstetricians, Anesthesiologists, General Surgeons, and Radiologists with on-site CT and MRI. With a current mixture of solo coverage as well as dual coverage hours, we are looking for colleagues with Emergency Medicine training or focus. We provide onboarding support and robust orientation to the department and our Epic EMR.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;LICENSING REQUIREMENTS&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (or eligibility for licensure in the Province of Ontario)&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;CCFP(EM), FRCP(EM), CCFP with emergency medicine experience or recent graduates with strong Emergency Medicine training and focus&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Ability to move patients and push/pull heavy mobile equipment&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;May encounter pressure due to complex medical issues of patients&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Standing, sitting, walking &amp;ndash; possibly for prolonged periods&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;May be required to view computer monitors (flat screen and/or CRTs) for extended periods of time&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Responds professionally and appropriately in high stress and emergency situations&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Required to assist patients during the transfer to and from the stretcher/table (e.g.: to and from wheelchair to stretcher/table, to and from stretcher/bed to&amp;nbsp; stretcher/table etc.)&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Successful applicants are required provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Additionally, to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.&lt;/p&gt;
