Obstetrician / Gynecologist (Full Time)

The Northumberland Hills Hospital is currently seeking a full-time Obstetrician / Gynecologist to join our vibrant team. Practice opportunities include primary and consultation obstetrics, gynecologic surgery (fully equipped for minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery), outpatient clinics and emergency department consultation.

MATERNAL CHILD CARE PROGRAM AT NHH

The Maternal Child Care program provides low risk obstetrical care (Level 1) with approximately 550 births per year with capacity to grow. The birthing unit provides a family centered environment that is equipped with six labour and delivery beds – each with their own private and home-like suite; a dedicated C-section operating suite; and an advanced fetal and patient monitoring system.

Our team consists of registered nurses specifically trained in obstetrical and newborn care, obstetricians, family physicians, midwives, anesthetists, respiratory therapists, pharmacy staff, dietitians, social workers, and volunteers. This team is committed to the provision of exceptional patient care. The team actively participates in the MoreOB risk management program and follows the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists guidelines. The program is committed to mother-baby dyad care and works within a patient and family centered model of care. The hospital is currently working toward Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation and provides breastfeeding support.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Must have Fellowship in Obstetrics/Gynecology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
Licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (or eligibility for licensure in the Province of Ontario)
Must possess strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively with all department / team disciplines in a supportive best practice environment (interprofessional collaboration)
Proven evidence of continued medical education commitment in a related field
Demonstrated ability to integrate current evidence and best practice into the delivery of quality care
Support family physicians with obstetrics privileges and midwifery colleagues

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Full-spectrum general obstetrics and gynecology scope of practice.
NHH is affiliated with three major Universities (Toronto, Queen’s, and Ottawa) and is a recognized educational site for Family Medicine Residents and Undergraduates.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

The applicant must be experienced, competent, and up to date with regard to general obstetrics and gynecology.

REMUNERATION/BENEFITS PACKAGE BEING OFFERED:

Remuneration is based on a daily stipend with travel and accommodations covered.

Emergency Room Physicians x2

Our collegial and busy ED at Northumberland Hills Hospital is seeking Emergency Room Physicians to enhance our 24/7 department operating sustainability.

We are a medium-sized (close to 40,000 visits per year) ED with a robust community and multidisciplinary supports that is committed to providing high quality, compassionate care through our “People First” philosophy. We have several services that support our Emergency Department including on-site Intensivists, Hospitalists, Obstetricians, Anesthesiologists, General Surgeons, and Radiologists with on-site CT and MRI. With a current mixture of solo coverage as well as dual coverage hours, we are looking for colleagues with Emergency Medicine training or focus. We provide onboarding support and robust orientation to the department and our Epic EMR.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

Licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (or eligibility for licensure in the Province of Ontario)
CCFP(EM), FRCP(EM), CCFP with emergency medicine experience or recent graduates with strong Emergency Medicine training and focus
Must hold current ACLS, ATLS and PALS Certification

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills and proven ability to work effectively with all department/team disciplines.
Full spectrum of high acuity clinical medicine, trauma and cardiac care skill set required
Evidence of continued medical education commitment to Emergency Medicine

Willing to work 4 shifts/month with at least one weekend as well as the ability to provide excellent quality of care during hours of solo coverage.

NHH is affiliated with Queen’s University and is an educational site for the CCFP (EM) residents and the Queen’s CCFP Department of Family Medicine Residency Program. The preferred candidates would be expected to participate in teaching medical students and postgraduate medical trainees.

REMUNERATION/BENEFITS PACKAGE BEING OFFERED

Remuneration is based on an ED Alternative Funding Agreement (AFA) with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care (MOHLTC).
