LOCATION AND ABOUT NHH

Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Acute services include emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, obstetrical care and palliative care. Post-acute specialty services (PASS) include restorative care and rehabilitation. ROLE OVERVIEW

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse in the extended class who holds a master’s degree in nursing with expertise in one or more clinical nursing specialties. In keeping with Northumberland Hills Hospital’s shared purpose and values, the NP is responsible for working together with the interprofessional team toward development, implementation, and evaluation of patient plans of care, and uses advanced knowledge, skill, and judgment in providing care and solutions for complex health-care issues for a specified patient population. This position will be primarily in the emergency department and will provide replacement coverage for Acute Care, and Post-Acute Specialty Services, and will function as MRP when appropriate

The NP utilizes a holistic approach that is grounded in evidence with an emphasis on health promotion and illness/injury prevention. The role includes direct comprehensive patient care including advanced assessment, diagnosing, prescribing, ordering, and interpreting lab, radiology, and ultrasound tests as per defined regulations and legislated scope of practice.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Master’s degree in nursing required
Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the Registered Nurse Extended Class, NP Adult preferred, or a combination of NP Primary Health and minimum three years relevant hospital experience

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will provide leadership and clinical expertise to support excellence in patient care by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs to enhance clinical proficiency, quality improvement and team development within the Emergency Department (ED) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This role reports to the Patient Care Manager, ED and collaborates with the Emergency and Critical Care services leadership for department specific and clinical initiative activities. The Clinical Nurse Specialist promotes excellence within the ED/ICU through mentoring and coaching staff; develops, provides, and evaluates educational programs including orientation, skill certification, continuing education and professional development. This role acts as a consultant to the Clinical Services Director(s) and Manager(s) drawing upon advanced knowledge of practice standards in emergency and critical care.

(e.g. policy and procedure development, quality of care reviews, learning plans). The successful incumbent will have knowledge of the pay for performance (P4R) metrics for the ED.

Areas of responsibility may change according to the needs of the Emergency and Critical Care Services programs. This role interacts with multiple health disciplines and collaborates with other Clinical Educators and Professional Practice Leads across the organization for corporate orientation and corporate initiatives.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse in the extended class who holds a master’s degree in nursing with expertise in one or more clinical nursing specialties. In keeping with Northumberland Hills Hospital’s shared purpose and values, the NP is responsible for working together with the interprofessional team toward development, implementation, and evaluation of patient plans of care, and uses advanced knowledge, skill, and judgment in providing care and solutions for complex health-care issues for a specified patient population. This position will provide replacement coverage for the Emergency Department, Acute Care, and Post-Acute Specialty Services, and will function as MRP when appropriate. The Clinical Services NP will also support initiatives that promote integrated care across the continuum from the hospital to the community.

In addition to direct clinical care, the NP plays a leading role in the development and implementation of applicable clinical guidelines and protocols, promotes the use of research and evidence-based practice, provides expert support and consultation, and facilitates system change. The NP is committed to lifelong learning and is committed to promoting, leading, and contributing to the learning of others.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Master’s degree in nursing required
Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the Registered Nurse Extended Class, NP Adult preferred, or a combination of NP Primary Health and minimum three years relevant hospital experience

Experience as a primary care provider for individuals with chronic illness
